Both, electric and non-electrical toasters can be used to toast bread. However the small electric kitchen appliance is the most used among the users, as it provides many advantages in terms of efficiency. There are two types of electrical toasters, namely the ones that are used manually and the automatic ones. Mainly they differ in the interaction established between the user and the product. While in the first case the toasting time is left to the user’s judgement, the second type allows it to set up a time after which the toaster automatically turns off. The main properties are shown as follows.

Basically a toaster can be roughly divided into two different parts: the outer housing an the heating mechanism. For this project we will focus on designing the body and the basic internal elements. Furthermore assembly parts such as screws should also be considered. In order to identify the high amount of elements of an electric toaster the following exploded view is provided.
As for the materials used for this kind of kitchen appliance, the vast majority of elements are either made of plastic (outer housing) or metal (heating elements).
